The Saturn Awards are known for honoring the best science fiction, horror and fantasy movies and television programs of the year. This year, they have nominated 'Your Name' and 'Speed Racer' for the awards. For 'Your Name', the category is 'Best Animated Film' while the 'Speed Racer' collector's edition has been nominated for 'Best DVD/BD Special Edition Release'.

The Best Animated Film includes other nominees such as Cars 3, Coco, Despicable Me 3, and The Boss Baby, while the other Special Edition nominees include Lost Horizon, The Lost World, Night of the Living Dead, Re-Animator, and Suspira.

'Your Name' tells the story of a high school girl in rural Japan and a high school boy in Tokyo who swap bodies. It premiered at the Anime Expo 2016 convention in Los Angeles, California on July 3, 2016, and in Japan on August 26, 2016. The film has already won the 49th Sitges Film Festival, 2016 Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards, and 71st Mainichi Film Awards for Best Animated Feature Film, as well as receiving a nomination for the 40th Japan Academy Prize for the Best Animation of the Year. The movie was screened in Los Angeles in December to qualify for the Academy Awards that year, but it was not nominated.

Funimation Entertainment's Speed Racer collector's edition was released in November 2017.

The winners for the 44th Saturn Awards will be announced in Jun 2018.
